Europe’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation came into force on May 25th, compelling tech companies to ask for user consent when collecting personal data, and perhaps more importantly, codifying the right to be forgotten.
The GDPR was a watershed moment for internet data privacy protection. Tech companies that had never even thought about protecting your privacy suddenly had to do something about it. Egregious violators were left fully exposed.

Link sharing with Sync is by far the most popular method of sharing, because the people you share with get instant access, no Sync account required! Additionally, Sync Pro and Business customers get advanced permissions when sharing links, such as expiry dates, activity notifications and preview only (no download).
The year of the web panel
In our last year end review we predicted that 2018 would be the year of the web panel, and boy was it ever.
In fact, we launched what can only be described as the best web panel ever! With a redesigned menu system, improved breadcrumb navigation, grid view, faster file version history and more – the new and improved Web Panel 3.0 really is a giant leap forward for all Sync customers. Bringing the “sync” to our mobile apps
We also continued to work on many new mobile app features throughout 2018. Notable highlights include sync offline (access your files even you are disconnected from the internet), a recents tab (quickly get to your newest files), team shared folder management and more.
Desktop app updates
We bumped the desktop app version up to 1.3, fixing many bugs as reported by you. Highlights include improved copy to Vault logging, improved two factor authentication integration and better compatibility with anti virus software. Look for more significant desktop app updates in 2019.
Improved help articles
Closing out 2018 we revamped the support knowledge base. You’ll find much improved guides detailing how to share with links, setup and manage team shared folders, request files, store files in Vault and more. Visit the new and improved help centre right now.
