Exciting News from Sync: New Apps, Features, Platform, and More…

A big thank you!
When we launched Sync back in 2012 we had a feeling that privacy awareness was going to be the next big thing. There were many cloud storage services around at that time, and they all had one scary thing in common: no strings attached access to your files. Protecting your privacy wasn’t their concern, and lo and behold, that’s still the case today.
We built Sync to change all that. We want Sync to be your completely private workspace – a place to keep your documents safe, secure, and 100% private at all times. There’s really no reason why you should have to give up your right to privacy in order to store your files in the cloud.
That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Sync is on track to surpass 100 thousand users this week! That means close to 100 thousand individuals and businesses have made a conscious effort to protect their privacy simply by choosing Sync. Privacy awareness really is the next big thing.
We’d like to extend a huge thanks to each and every one of you for your feedback and support over the past few years. It’s been a truly humbling experience to help so many people take their privacy back, and we’re just getting started.
A brand new Sync
So far, 2015 has been a year of significant upgrades here at Sync. We’ve successfully rolled out platform and datacenter upgrades that have improved the speed, stability and reliability of syncing for all users. Along with these under-the-hood improvements, we’ve also launched brand new desktop apps and a brand new web panel loaded with new features.
Most importantly however, the beta label has finally been dropped from our website – locking in that incredible promotional beta pricing for good!
- 5GB – always free, never expires
500 GB – $49 yearly
2 TB – $98 yearly (yes, you’re reading that correctly)
New desktop apps
Earlier this year we phased out the old 0.8 series desktop apps and phased in our shiny new 1.1 series apps. If you haven’t already updated you should do so right now because the new apps are super fast and a whole lot better. The new apps also include in-app updates, to make getting the latest version of Sync as easy as possible.
New features
Over the past few months we’ve quietly released a host of new features designed to give you even more privacy and control over both syncing and sharing. Incidentally, we’ve been working directly from your request list. You ask and we deliver because that’s how we roll. You can start using any of these features today:
- Custom passwords for links
- Password hint for easier account password recovery
- Remote session logout via the web panel
- Improved web panel browser support
- All new web panel interface
Remote wipe on shares
Per-user folder permissions (read only, read and write)
Expiry dates for links
Adjustable download limits for links
Link activity notifications
Spoiler alert: look for 2-factor authentication, upload enabled links, and major updates to our mobile apps coming very soon.
Referral program
We’ve made changes to the referral program to make it easier for you to earn free space. Now, when someone clicks on your unique referral link and creates a new Sync account, both you and the person signing up will get 1 GB free. It all happens automatically.
Share your link with anyone and everyone because we’re giving away free GBs. You can view the status of your referrals and get your referral link via the web panel right here.
Your privacy guaranteed
For far too long, and without knowing it, people have traded away their complete security and privacy when storing their documents in the cloud. Sync believes in absolute data privacy, and we’ve built a cloud storage platform based on that foundation. With Sync you can be sure your documents are safe, secure and 100% private at all times. We can’t read your files, your privacy is guaranteed.
